Installation Instructions

  • Download DebWrt firmware for your device ( use filename with a likewise name as the name of the firmware you would install for OpenWrt )
  • Download DebWrt modules for your device
  • Download DebWrt rootfs for your device
  • Partition the USB Disk/Stick/Compact? Flash Card/SD Card:
    • /dev/sdb1 - DEBWRT_ROOT - Linux - ext3 - Rest of available size
    • /dev/sdb2 - DEBWRT_SWAP - Linux Swap - 128MB
  • Create filesystems
    mkfs.ext3 -L DEBWRT_ROOT /dev/sdb1
    tune2fs -c 0 -i 0 /dev/sdb1
    mkswap /dev/sdb2
    
  • Mount the ext3 root partition
    mkdir -p /mnt/debwrt
    mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/debwrt
    
  • Untar the downloaded Debian root filesystem to /mnt/debwrt (/dev/sdb1)
    cd /mnt/debwrt
    tar xxvf ~/debwrt-rootfs-*.bz2
    
  • Untar the download modules to /mnt/debwrt (/dev/sdb1)
    cd /mnt/debwrt
    tar xzvf ~/debwrt-modules-*.gz
    
  • Umount
    umount /mnt/debwrt
    
  • Flash your router with the DebWrt firmware using the OpenWrt flash instructions for your device
  • Reboot the router
  • See DebWrtRootfsImageInformation for default IP address, password, installed packages, etc.
