1011The boot procedure is selected in make menuconfig in the "DebWrt boot options/Boot method" menu.

3839This method provides the quickest way of booting DebWrt, in case above functionality is not required. The kernel directly mounts /dev/sda1 and runs /sbin/init to boot Debian.
