Kernel Panic when finding ath5k wireless and locking of system during SSH startup

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: amain
Priority: minor Milestone: milestone:
Component: openwrt Version: 2.0
Severity: Keywords:
Cc:

Description

More information comning soon.

The jist of the matter:

After following the advice on:
http://dev.debwrt.net/ticket/98

I got the system to boot. I followed stage two directions and the system continued to boot after unpacking modules. Then, the system kernel panics when finding ath5k.

After the kernel panic, I press ctrl-c and the system continues until it completely stops at SSH startup.

I will copy and paiste output.

Was I supposed to do anything else to rootfs aside from ticket 98 instructions?

then ctrl c again

Cleaning up temporary files....
INIT: Entering runlevel: 2
Starting enhanced syslogd: rsyslogd.
Starting OpenBSD Secure Shell server: sshd

can't ctrl c past anything else. I figure interfaces can't load cause kernel crashes and then sshd tries to bind to something that doesn't exist.

/sbin/modprobe -b pci:v0000168Cd00000029

A websearch on PCI ID 168C:0029 shows ath9k.

I don't even have a Router Station.

Feel free to make me a stake holder and send me both.

comment:12 Changed 9 years ago by anonymous

that is awesome. LOL. I think I should have some sort of modules but I don't. Was I supposed to unzip my modules?

I am going to pop in the ath5k and see what I happens.

comment:13 follow-up: Changed 9 years ago by crodr021@…

it boots with the ath5k and without it now. But not with ath9k. I had to add modules to etc/modules because the modules weren't loading on their own like in openwrt.

Replying to crodr021@…:

it boots with the ath5k and without it now.

Time to close this ticket with ath5k in the title.
