Hi Erik,

The DebWrtSvn page has been updated, DebWrtMan also and a new wiki page DebWrtDevQemu has been created. And of course the message after make debian/rootfs.

The idea is that it should all work transparently. When doing qemu second stage, you don't have to do it on the device any more. When not, you do it on the device. In theory there should be no difference.

You can use make menuconfig to enable or disable qemu second stage. Let me know if you think I should add more documentation. Maybe you are willing to add some yourself?

I will close the ticket if you have enough information.

Hi Johan,

I think I will try out second-stage with qemu; and make some changes to the httpsvn-page --chapter second stage with qemu.

--> I still have some things to figger out, like how to use tap/tun in qemu (because with Networking steps i not jet got it working ...)

So can you make an account for me?
And please leave this thicket open for reverence for me.

  • Summary changed from Second stage to Second stage with qemu

Great. Some section I would like to have control over myself. That be the main pages. Other sections are already work editable. Please send me the changes by e-mail if you encounter a closed page. Or if you think a wiki page should be open.

About qemu. Please keep in mind on DebWrt there are two places where qemu is used:

  1. qemu for second stage Debian install (new)
  2. qemu to test DebWrt

See the following thread on the forum for some explanation on the 2 mode qemu can be used in:

In user mode (option 1), you don't need to play with the tun/tap interface. When testing full DebWrt ( option 2 ), you might need to so. I haven't been playing with qemu. But have enough experience with Xen, UML, VirtualBox?, etc to be able to help you out.

For a while now there is a forum now on DebWrt. We used to do a lot of user help by trac tickets, because there was no other way. But now the forum is an idea place for discussions like this. So we can keep trac for ER's and bugs. So please open some threads on the forum to discuss further, if you feel you have more questions.
